SA LIVESTOCK EXCHANGE DUBLIN REPORT

Sheep – 26 May

Numbers increased by just over 1000 head this week as agents offered 5000 lambs and 1000 sheep. Quality was generally good with a few pens of ideal extra heavy export quality lambs throughout the sale.

The usual trade and processor buyers were active along with specialty butchers, feeders and restockers. Overall the sale returned a generally positive and firm result on the previous sale for both sheep and lambs.

Crossbred light stores sold from $180 to $200 as the better types sold from $230 to $240 per head. Trade weights ranged from $245 to $260, heavy trades sold from $260 to $275 with extra heavy weights selling from $300 to $354 per head.

Light Merino stores sold from $130 to $150 as the better types ranged from $190 to $220 per head. Trade weights ranged from $220 to $230, heavy trades sold from $240 to $250 with extreme heavy weights selling from $285 to $340 per head.

Heavy mutton sold from $230 to $280, trade weights ranged from $180 to $210 with heavy weights fetching $230 to $280 per head.
